How We Think About Science and Training
THeLab is built around the idea that who gets recruited into science, and how they are trained, determines what science gets done. Our approach focuses on developing independent thinkers, structuring environments that support people where they are so they can participate in science, and fostering a collaborative ecosystem where multiple perspectives strengthen both the questions we ask and the solutions we develop.

Co-Leadership
Multiple perspectives strengthen science.

Participation
Science is shaped by who participates.
Science is an inherently communicative and collaborative endeavor. The questions that get asked, and the ways they are approached, reflect the experiences, perspectives, and opportunities of the people involved. Expanding participation in science is therefore central to how knowledge is built.

Training
The lab is a training ecosystem.

AI in THeLab.
Advances in artificial intelligence are changing how we generate, analyze, and communicate scientific work. These tools can accelerate progress, but they also influence how we learn, think, and develop scientific judgment. The challenge is not whether to use these tools, but how to use them in ways that support the development of independent scientific thinking.
